Every Child Seen, Supported and Inspired at TLAP

How can we remove barriers to learning so every child feels successful and included❓
Meeting the needs of our pupils is central to all we do. At TLAP as part of our INSET day staff took part in an informative session focused on identifying barriers to learning and planning reasonable adjustments in the classroom. Helen Huntley facilitated the session on how we achieve quality first teaching – what we are currently doing and what we could do differently. We revisited Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, exploring how its principles are relevant in the classroom in supporting our children to feel calm, and develop a strong sense of achievement and belonging.
✨ Thoughtful practice that puts children first.
Our Inspirational Namesakes
It’s been a busy month celebrating our Birthday Class Names — Biswas, Bowie, Calver and Hawking. Each class is named after an inspirational figure, rooted in the belief that “we can’t be what we can’t see.” These celebrations give pupils time to reflect on and learn from the values of their namesake.
Ramnath Biswas was born in India in 1894 and became famous for cycling around the world, later working with the British Navy and sharing his adventures in a self-published book. To celebrate, our children came to school dressed as explorers.
David Bowie an iconic figure across many music genres. Our children dressed as musical artists they admire and expressed their creativity with face paint inspired by Bowie’s alter egos, including Ziggy Stardust.
George Washington Carver was a pioneering American agricultural scientist whose work transformed farming and improved lives, making him one of the most prominent Black scientists of the early 20th century. To celebrate, our children dressed as scientists.
Stephen Hawking an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist and author whose groundbreaking work inspired millions, despite living with motor neurone disease. To celebrate, children came dressed as scientists.
