Safeguarding
At the Arbib Education Trust we have a strong culture of safeguarding where it is in our DNA, where we ALWAYS, without hesitation, act in the best interests of the children and students in our care. This is underpinned by high quality practice and policy.
Safeguarding is woven into the fabric of who we are. The wellbeing, health and safety of our young people is at the forefront of all we do.
Safeguarding across all our schools is firmly rooted in the principles of Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB). We want every member of our community to feel safe and valued, regardless of their background, identity or circumstances.
We believe that safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Whether you are a member of staff, a governor, a trustee or a volunteer. We all play an essential role in keeping our young people safe.
Our safeguarding approach recognises that risks and vulnerabilities can affect individuals differently. By embedding Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) into our safeguarding practice, we ensure that:
- diversity is valued
- discrimination is challenged
- our young people feel supported
- and everybody has equal access to protection and opportunity.
We work closely with families, staff and placement providers to create an environment where young people feel they belong. Where they can speak up, seek support and thrive in a school that values difference and upholds fairness.
If you are concerned about a child’s welfare, record what you saw or heard and report it to a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) the same day. Do not conduct your own investigation.
Each of our schools has a designated safeguarding lead:
- TLA – Pally Sandhu
- TLAP – Tracey Bowen
- TLHP – Hanna Blackmore

If you are concerned about online abuse or the way someone has been communicating online, you can contact CEOP for support. Clicking the CEOP button below will guide you on whether to make a report, explain what happens next, and outline how CEOP can help.
CEOP is here to keep children safe from sexual abuse and grooming online. You can make a report directly to the CEOP Safety Centre by clicking on the Click CEOP button above if something has happened online which has made you feel unsafe, scared or worried. This might be from someone you know in real life, or someone you have only ever met online. CEOP take all reports seriously and we will do everything we can to keep you safe.
As well as making a report to the CEOP Safety Centre, the CEOP Education website has information and advice to help you if something has happened to you online.
Are you being bullied?
CEOP are unable to respond to reports about bullying but if you’re being bullied and would like to talk to someone in confidence right now you can speak to Childline on 0800 1111 or talk to them online – no worry is too big or too small.
Staff Training
All staff, volunteers and governors undertake annual training so that they:
- are aware of school protocol, policies and procedures
- provide an environment which keeps children safe and staff at all times
- can identify children who are vulnerable and may be at risk.
Regular refresher training helps staff to keep up to date with the latest information.
As a supportive community, we reinforce the importance of listening carefully and ensuring children know they can share any concerns with staff. Parents and carers are welcome to read our policy, which is available on our website or from the school office.
Training includes:
- Annual updates to Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)
- An overview of the various forms of abuse
- Recognising potential signs and indicators of abuse
- Responding appropriately to disclosures
- Recording and reporting concerns accurately
- Understanding Harmful Sexual Behaviour
- Promoting Online Safety
- PREVENT: awareness of radicalisation and extremism
- First aid, medication administration and EpiPen training
- Introduction to GDPR principles
- Workplace Health & Safety and Fire Safety Awareness
Curriculum
Our curriculum ensures that young people understand what safeguarding means and feel confident about how and where to report any concerns.
