TLA Year 13 Leavers' Day x 6th Form News
Back
Friday 9 May saw us celebrate a memorable day as we bid farewell to our Year 13 students! This special event included a variety of activities designed to celebrate and reflect on the journey of our students. The day started with a formal assembly featuring speeches from teachers and students, highlighting the achievements and memories of the past years and some embarrassing photos dating back to their first day in Year 7 to their Prom last summer. Following the assembly, the afternoon consisted of with music, photographs, shirt signing and a BBQ in the sunshine. Students had the opportunity to enjoy their final moments together as a year group while looking ahead to the future.
Headley Scholarship Fund
The scholarship fund was established in 2022 to improve the chances of disadvantaged students gaining access to Russell Group universities and successfully completing their degrees. It aims to address the financial barrier often faced by students from disadvantaged backgrounds making access to higher education more inclusive and equitable. Applications for the scholarship open in Year 13, following their UCAS submission. Students who meet the eligibility criteria are shortlisted and subsequently invited to attend an interview.
This year, four more students have been awarded the Headley Scholarship, bringing the total number of recipients to 18. One of the original scholars is now in their final year of study, demonstrating the long-term impact of the bursary in supporting academic success. The new cohort will participate in a structured mentoring programme, providing guidance and support to younger students.
Eton Summer School 2025
We are thrilled to announce that five of our Year 12 students have been accepted onto the prestigious Eton Summer University Preparation Courses (ESUPC) 2025. This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to their hard work and dedication.
The Eton Summer University Preparation Courses offer a unique opportunity for students to engage in intensive, subject-specific courses taught by experienced educators, many of whom teach at Eton College. The programme is designed to enrich students' academic knowledge, enhance their university applications, and provide a taste of university life. Congratulations to the following students who have been accepted:
1. Jasmin N – Biology and Chemistry
2. Tia W – Classics
3. Ayaan A – Economics
4. Rehan H – Economics
5. Nadeen A – Politics
These courses will not only deepen their understanding of their chosen subjects, but also provide valuable skills and experiences that will support their university preparation. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and wish them the best of luck in their studies.
