TLHP Year 3: How do Geographers learn about climate to make weather predictions?
Back
What an exciting and enriching half term it has been in Year 3! We’ve been busy exploring the world around us through a wide range of activities that have sparked curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
Our geography topic this term focused on climate zones. The children have learned about the different zones around the world— from polar to tropical—and how these climates affect the environment, plants, animals, and people. To bring our learning to life, we explored fascinating museum learning objects from various climate zones, which helped us understand how humans adapt and thrive in different conditions.
As part of our High Stakes Project, the children worked incredibly hard to create their own informative booklets all about the climate zones they studied. These booklets combined research, geography knowledge, and fantastic design skills. We were so proud to share our work with children in Year 1 and Year 2, who were full of questions and enthusiasm!
In English, we’ve been enjoying the classic story Charlotte’s Web. The children showed great empathy for the characters and explored themes of friendship and kindness. Inspired by the events in the story, we took on the role of journalists and wrote our own newspaper articles, capturing the dramatic events at the Zuckerman farm with flair and attention to detail.
Our science learning has taken root! We've been investigating plants, conducting enquiry-based questions to discover what plants need to grow and thrive. Through hands-on experiments and careful observation, the children developed their understanding of scientific methods and built their confidence as young botanists.
