Deaf Awareness Week
Back
Thank you to everyone who supported Deaf Awareness Week!
During Deaf Awareness Week (5-11 May), we hosted a variety of activities to promote understanding and inclusion within our school community. Highlights included a virtual reality session and a bake sale, which helped us raise an impressive £301.47 for the Berkshire Deaf Children’s Society. Over the past term, students have been learning about deaf awareness, exploring their own hearing levels and understanding how the ear functions. They used this knowledge to create informative videos, which were shared in assemblies to help educate their peers. We also organised a workshop for our deaf students by James Fitzgerald, Professional Lead in Post-16 Education, who led a valuable workshop for our deaf students. The session focused on future pathways and the support available to them when they move on to Further/Higher education.
