Volunteers in Museum Learning

Our volunteer programme stems from our long-standing partnership with the University of Reading. Our Museum Learning Volunteers are usually second-year students on the Museum Studies Joint Honours programme. This year our volunteers, Freya and Jemma have supported the running of digital museum club, helped run archaeology day activities and researched and developed a new Victorians loans box. To find out more about what they have been up to, see the volunteer blog here.

Students volunteer with us to gain experience of working with museum collections in an educational setting and to build skills that compliment their degree and put their learning into practice. Volunteering with us also supports their Placement module which forms an official mandatory component of their degree.

Anyone can volunteer with us, to find out more see our Volunteer Handbook or email the team at museum@langleyacademy.org

“It is an exciting environment to be a part of. The range of tasks are good at developing a wide skill set and preparing me for a potential career in the heritage sector”  Freya
